Medical Billing for Allergy & Immunology Practices

Allergy billing has a shape unlike any other specialty. Treatment runs for months or years, immunotherapy generates preparation and administration charges on different days by design, and the units on a claim have to match what was actually mixed and actually injected. When the record-keeping slips, the claims slip with it.

Doctors One Solution handles the full revenue cycle for allergy and immunology practices — eligibility, claims, denial follow-up, and A/R — so your team can focus on patients instead of payers.

Doctors One Solution is a member of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (ACAAI).

Where allergy billing leaks money

  • Preparation billed like administration. Antigen preparation (CPT 95165) is billed in units based on doses prepared; administration (95115/95117) is billed the day the patient is injected. Blurring the two is the most common structural error in allergy billing — and payers audit it.
  • Unit drift and vial wastage. Dose counts, vial records, and injection logs have to reconcile. Small discrepancies compound across a whole immunotherapy panel.
  • Benefit caps discovered too late. Many plans cap immunotherapy visits or carve out testing benefits. We verify limits up front and track them as treatment progresses — not after a denial arrives for a patient already treated.
  • Supervision documentation. Administration claims need the record to show who gave the injection and under whose supervision. Missing it turns a payable claim into a compliance question.

What we handle for allergy practices

  • Eligibility and benefits verification, including allergy testing and immunotherapy benefit limits
  • Claim scrubbing and submission — units, codes, and modifiers checked before payers see them
  • Immunotherapy billing discipline: preparation and administration billed as the separate events they are
  • Denial management — worked, appealed, and tracked to resolution
  • Payment posting and ERA reconciliation
  • A/R follow-up on aging claims, plus monthly reporting on collections, denial trends, and days in A/R

A billing team that knows this specialty

Immunotherapy's preparation/administration split is exactly the kind of detail a generalist billing service learns at your expense. We bill for allergy practices every day, and we start every engagement the same way: a free review of your A/R aging and recent denials, so you can see where the money is stuck before you commit to anything.

FAQ

Do you only work with certain EHRs, or can you bill in ours? Any of them — we work with all major EHRs. Doctors One Solution is a Tebra RCM Partner and a partner of IMS by Meditab, but we're not limited to either: we bill inside whatever system your practice already uses, with no software switch or migration.

Our biggest problem is immunotherapy units. Can you clean that up? That's usually where we start: reconciling preparation units against administration and injection logs, then fixing the process so the drift stops.

What size practices do you work with? Independent practices from solo providers up to about ten — allergy is one of our core specialties.

How do we start? With the free review. If we're not a fit, you keep the findings.
